The Cops For Kids Buddy Bass Tournament is a fund raiser for the Make A Wish Foundation, and is also a great opportunity for the Missouri Water Patrol Association membership to come together for a worthwhile cause.   This tournament is held annually on the first Tuesday in May, and will be held this year on May 04, 2010.  This will be the 6^th annual Cops For Kids tournament.   This has always been a law enforcement tournament and at least one member of each buddy team is required to be an active or retired law enforcement officer.   This is a unique opportunity for law enforcement officers to participate in a bass tournament on a weekday, rather than on a weekend when most of them would otherwise not be able to participate.  This year, however, we are expanding the eligibility for participation in this bass tournament to all public safety first responders.  This means that firefighters, ambulance attendants, and EMS (emergency medical services) personnel are now eligible to participate in our tournament.   Hopefully, this will result in even greater exposure and a larger number of anglers participating in the tournament. 

In past tournaments we have given away numerous door prizes.  Unfortunately, we have limited time during the weigh-in process at the end of the tournament, and many of the participants have a long distance to travel after the tournament is concluded.  For that reason, we have decided to reduce the number of door prizes.   Starting this year we are going to restrict donations for door prizes to a minimum value of $200.00.  No donation for services (guide trips, boat rentals, etc..) will be accepted for door prizes.  We would prefer to hand out tangible prizes/gift certificates to door prize winners.  Companies that donate a door prize at the minimum value will be recognized in a separate category in future flyers and on our website.

In lieu of the minimum $200.00 value of product for a door prize, we are requesting a donation for the Make A Wish Foundation.  We will be glad to accept any cash/check donation for the Make A Wish Foundation.  We do, however, require a minimum donation of $100.00 cash/check to the MWPA in order to be recognized on our website and on next year’s flyers as an official donor.  All donations will be placed in a fund established for the Make A Wish Foundation.  One lump sum amount will then be presented to the Make A Wish Foundation at the end of our tournament.
